Facelift!

Wow, was our deck in need of a major facelift or what? The red stain and huge brass light never grew on me. We debated replacing the whole thing (~$400). We would have shrunk the deck, wrapping it with stairs and would have waited until next summer to add a patio off of it. Therefore, we would have had a smaller deck and no patio for $400 this summer. Nah! Instead we opted to give a facelift a try to salvage our current deck. So we hit up Sherwin Williams 40% off paint and stain sale for a gallon of stain and a quart of paint (~$40). We love Sherwin Williams!

Room Scenes Update

Nothing came out of my offer for design advice and room scenes but I will continue to occasionally post changes we make to our home.  Again, these are typically done on a budget and we do all the work ourselves.  We never do anything elaborate or expensive but it is enough for us to make updates and freshen things up a bit! If you ever need advice on how you can make inexpensive changes to your home don't hesitate to ask!

Presenting...

Canterbury Scenes

I have received enough feedback regarding my Tales on Canterbury Lane blog, that I would like to help you make affordable updates to your own home. Have you ever wished you could hire your own interior designer but just don't want to hassle with the time or cost involved? OR Do you have a hard time executing ideas from Pinterest and Houzz? I am going to start offering room mood boards/scenes which are great alternatives to hiring an interior designer. How does it work? I will give design advice by incorporating some pieces already in your home and you will provide pictures, a budget and your design style. I will craft a room scene for your space by shopping and working within your budget. You then get the pleasure of purchasing the items and bringing your scene to life. I will be available by email for any questions you have.

Want one for FREE?

The first three people to e-mail me at: talesoncanterburylane@yahoo.com will get a personalized room scene from me for one room in your home. Provide me with a budget and one room in your home will have a fresh new look. Please commit to making changes so you can be a model for my blog!

Sample Room Scene

This is a sample room scene of a play room that doubles as a home office for my sister, her husband and two little boys. My sister didn't want it to be over the top as it is right off the entryway of their home. I provided her with paint samples, prices and links to purchase the items online, and a few DIY projects to complete. The room scene featured a new paint color, new lighting, window seating with storage, kids table, computer chair, bean bags, a red framed black board, world map graphic and attractive storage for their built-ins.
